Kailei-ism

I was frantically looking for my cell phone in the car tonight. When I told Kailei I couldn't find it, she stated, "Oh no! We're doomed!"

Keara's Writing Prompts

Writing prompt: If you had $100 to spend on someone else, who would you spend the money on?

Keara's response (spelling errors and all):

"I'd spend my money on my mom. I would buy her a brand new horse that looks lik her old horse. He died and my mom was very sad. I would buy it because she realy loves horses. I would also buy it because her old horse died. When she told me the story I was sad too."

(And yes, I cried.)

Writing prompt: What would your dream best friend be like?

Keara's response (spelling errors and all):

"My dream friend wold be nice like me. But she would be way neater than me. She would live in my living room. Her name would be Lizzy. Her favorite animal would be a dog. She would help the evierment just like me. That is what my dream best friend would be like."

Baking with Friends

Kailei's Chinese Class

Another year of Chinese language class is done. I must say that until today I wasn't sure if Kailei was learning a whole lot (only because I couldn't get her to say much) but today she proved me wrong. She counted, she sang, she said words. It was so much fun to hear her! Now I'm convinced that it was a good thing to put her in the language class and I will continue to do it for as long as I can. I so wish I had an ear for Chinese but languages escape me with the exception of sign language. I should probably learn something however or pretty soon her and her friends will be talking about me and I'll have no idea what they are saying. Hmmm...better get on that.

Keara and Laura Bush

So Keara's class was celebrating famous Americans. Keara chose to research Laura Bush. She found out so much about her and even made a paper doll. Her class performed the other night singing songs and stating quotes from the people they studied. It was a very patriotic night and Keara did a great job.

Keara's Note to Me on Mother's Day

"Since I was a baby you've been so wonderful, kind and sweet. All over I feel squiggly, you rock me to and fro. From the oceans to the islands, the sun to the moon, I'll love you forever."

Mother's Day

Well, I had a wonderful Mother's Day. The girls were up early to cook breakfast with Daddy and brought it upstairs to my room. I do enjoy breakfast in bed and the girls liked it too (they ate most of mine). Keara made me a beautiful keychain and Kailei colored a tea cup and put a tea bag and biscotti in there for me. It was very sweet.

I got to sleep some more after breakfast and apparently I needed it. I really kicked back this morning and enjoyed the family catering to my requests.

This evening we took Grammy and Poppy to out to dinner with us and enjoyed a meal at Red Lobster. We all ate until we could hardly move but it was yummy.

Naturally the best part of my day was just knowing that my girls are happy and healthy. I'm so grateful for all the joy they bring into my life. I'm truly blessed to have these two girls and I'm also blessed to have had a wonderful mother who taught me what love and family is all about.

Kailei-ism

Kailei has a tendency to sneak into our bedroom at night. We've been working on it for a while and reward her with morning treats if she stays in her bed.

Last night was not one of her better nights and this morning she woke up in our bed, looked at me and said, "I won't even bother asking if I stayed in my room or not." I cracked up.
