Memorial Day Weekend Gathering

Tried to get the MWCC gang together but many folks had plans.  Fortunatly the Parker crew was available and so we whipped up some traditional memorial day fare...chinese.  We were going to have a BBQ but the weather has been so unpredictable that we didn't want to take a chance.  Naturally, it was beautiful out and we could have had a great BBQ.  Oh well, we had some good food anyway.  Love my MWCC family.

Kailei's Tribute to Keara

Kailei's wrote and recited this story about Keara.  I cried.  Makes all the fighting seem trivial.

My Sister Keara
by Kailei Davison

My big sister is ten. She shoots a lot of hoops. She does Irish dance.  She reads a lot and watches TV.  She has a lot of books.  She is very tall.  She is so smart - very smart! She is beautiful. She always does the nicest things. She says "I love you so much." That makes me feel happy.  She does a lot of braids and buns in my hair. She shows me how to do the computer.  I have know her all my life.

Keara's Skit

Part of the curriculum in 4th grade is Colorado history.  Keara has been researching about boomtowns and today her class put together a series of skits that showcased all that they have learned.  Keara was a casino owner in her skit and the group did a great job.

End of Year Chinese Celebration

Another Trip to the ER

Nobody in the Archer or Davison family has ever broken a bone.  Somehow I think Keara is making up for all of us.  Took a spill getting off the slide today and sure enough broke her arm.  Keara never cries so it is sometimes hard to tell with this tough cookie but she seems to know her body well so we took her to Children's where they xray'd her arm and put it in a splint.  We will visit the orthopedist tomorrow for a cast.  And just in time for field day this week.  Never a dull moment.

Kailei-ism's

So Zeb was giving me a hug when Kailei walked in the kitchen and said, "Have I entered love land? Not around me people."
So Kailei has moved up to new level in piano. On our way home tonight she asked if we could go celebrate. I told her that sometimes the reward is in the satisfaction of having accomplished something. She replied with, "Um, yeah...I think my idea is better."

Kailei's Reader's Theatre

Kailei and the Future

Kailei's Spring Poem

Mother - Daughter Date

I took Mom to see Billy Elliot for mother's day.  I know she really enjoyed it.  I did too. We topped off the evening by eating at Carmine's.  I'm pretty sure the waiter remembered me from the evening before.  A little embarrassing but one can never have too much ziti.  Loved spending time with Mom.

My Father-in-Law

Merle Davison is a wonderful father-in-law and grandfather.  I don't think I've told him that. I've told him I love him but haven't told him how much I respect and care about him. Why do we do that?  Wait until something rocks our world before we let the ones we love know how much they mean to us. I'm one of the lucky ones...one of the few who is fortunate to be blessed by such wonderful in-laws as well as wonderful parents.  And the girls simply adore their grandpa.  Their eyes light up each and every time they get to see him.

Merle was diagnosed with leukemia this week.  It has come as quite a shock to all of us. Another reminder that the people we love won't always be here with us.

We traveled down to Walsh this weekend hoping to spend time with Merle before he starts his chemo treatments.  It was a wonderful weekend.  "The best mother's day" he ever had stated Merle when we left.

Naturally it was a weekend filled with emotion.  We cried.  We laughed.  We hoped.  We prayed.

We are all unsure of what the future will bring but it won't be as smooth as we all anticipated.  We will continue to cry, and laugh and hope and pray.  We will fight this monster together but right now I needed to write this down and let my father-in-law know just how much I've been blessed to have him in my life.

The Cousin's with Grandpa

We attended church with Grandma and Grandpa this weekend and both Kailei and Khiem fought over who was going to sit next to Grandpa at the organ.  I'm not sure how distracting they were but Grandpa had them proudly sitting next to him.  Kailei was quite proud of her Grandpa's talent at playing and singing.

Kailei-ism's

So the topic of guns came up with Kailei and Zeb was explaining to her how dangerous they could be.  Kailei soon piped in and said.."I know another dangerous thing...cowboys!"

I told Kailei we might see a show on Broadway this summer and she jumped up and down with excitement. As she walked away I heard her say to herself. "I don't even know what Broadway is."

My Theatre Buddy

I love that Keara enjoys the theatre as much as I do.  We attended the show 9 to 5: the Musical and both really enjoyed it.  Of course nobody can do it quite like Dolly Parton but I sure laughed a lot.  Fortunately some of the humor was above Keara's head but she liked it anyway.  Can't wait until my next theatre show.
