Mountain Fun

Pulled Carla away from the hospital and we all went up to Breckenridge for the day. The ride was gorgeous since all the leaves were changing colors.

We rode the gondola up the mountain to the "fun park". My whole goal was to take Carla down the Alpine Slide and of course I knew the kids would live it too. We all had a blast sliding down the mountain and it was a definite first for Carla. The girls were begging to do the trampoline bungee thing so Carla got them sticker to do that. It was loads of fun to watch them.

We took the gondola back down the mountain and walked around town. I probably should have done some homework as apparently it was also Octoberfest. Didn't really get in our way but it was crowded. We ate at a great steak place and did a little shopping. I think it was good for Carla and we certainly had a good time.

Homecoming

Took Kailei and a friend to homecoming at Cherokee Trail. Keara wasn't feeling well. CT puts on a tailgate party where the clubs sell food or have games for the students to play. Apparently it is a highlight for my girls. Thankfully it is early this year and the weather is great. The girls filled up on junk food and lasted for about half of the football game. A good time was had by all.

Outdoor Ed

Once upon a time I attended P.L.U.M. (Pine Lane Up in the Mountains) when I was in 6th grade. And now Keara has participated in the traditional 6th grade adventure. She headed up to the YMCA Camp in Estes Park for 3 days and two nights. Honestly I wasn't sure she would want to go but she was very excited.

They stayed in cabins and took classes such as Rock and Ice, Montane forest and Survival. Unfortunately the third day was when the family cold attacked her so she wasn't feeling well but she hung in there until she got home. When I got home from work she was asleep on the couch. She woke up enough to have some soup and then crashed again. Fortunately after this venture all the 6th graders have Friday off to recooperate so she was able to just focus on getting well.

La Cage

Had tickets for Zeb and I to go to see La Cage au Folles but he isn't feeling well so I had to find an understudy. My friend Michael is a theatre buff so I called him up knowing he would enjoy the show. If you have seen the movie Birdcage then that gives you an idea of what La Cage is about. The lead was very good but there was another big named actor that the show could have done without. Still enjoyed it though. Love, love, love the theatre.

JCCC

Kailei started back at JCCC. She is still taking Chinese language and dance. So glad she likes it. I think it is so important for her. Here's to another year of Saturday mornings.

Medical Update

Zeb's dad is home and feeling better. Whew!

Zeb's cousin John is still in crital care. His sister Carla has come into town and is here to take care of him. She is a nurse and has been able to get the real scoop on things and help the team determine the best care stategy.

Carla is staying with us and the girls our loving it. They call her Aunt Carla and she has won their hearts.

Carla spends her days in the hospital and her nights with us. I know she misses her family but we continue to pray John will turn a corner.

Sickness

As is typical this time of year the colds have made their way into our home. Somehow I have managed to escape them but Kailei started it all, then Zeb and finally Keara. This one is lasting a couple of weeks it seems. I'm investing in Lysol.

What I Would Like to Learn in Third Grade by Kailei

"I would like to learn multiplication and how tall a desk is.  I would like to learn long words and really hard words."
