Yeehaw!

Couldn't let the weekend end without visiting the National Western Stock Show. It was the last day but we made it in time to enjoy watching the 8-horse hitch, walking around the all the vendors, and watching the sheepdogs. Kailei's allergies acted up but she didn't let them stop her from having fun. Unlike her cousin Sydney, we are thinking Kailei isn't exactly the farm animal type. She spent quite a bit of time holding her nose because of the smell. I on the other hand felt right at home. I think Keara is somewhere in between. Those rodeo queens can look pretty fancy at times.

MWCC Chinese New Year

It's the Year of the Ox and time for another Chinese New Year celebration. Our MWCC family came together again for good food, good fun and a toast for a wonderful new year.

Poor Kailei

Poor Kailei was sick as a dog late last week. Her school called on Thursday wanting us to come get her because she had a temperature. Zeb picked her up and for most of the afternoon and into the night she ran a fever and had a bad stomach ache. She actually threw up as well so we thought she might have the flu.

Come Friday her fever was still there and she continued to complain of a stomach ache and now a sore throat. I took off of work to take care of her and decided to take her to the doctor. Turns out she had strep throat. Poor thing. Later that afternoon she broke out in a quite a rash and spent most of the day complaining about her stomach.
I sat with her for most of the day on the couch cuddling and trying to console her with an occasional break from Zeb. (I believe I can now recite lines from "Barbie and the Diamond Castle" movie.)

Anyway, she was put on an antibiotic and come Saturday morning she woke up and immediately told us she was hungry. Our Kailei was back to feeling better. Actually Zeb called me on the phone around 10am saying she finally finished breakfast. It took forever that morning because she was talking non-stop. Whew!

Another Kailei Moment

Well, this is not for anyone with a weak stomach but it is too funny not to share.
Zeb took Kailei to the park the other night. As they were leaving and getting into the car Kailei asked Zeb, "Do I have any boogies in my nose?" "No", answered Zeb. "That's because I ate them." commented Kailei.
Zeb had nothing more to say.

Monday

It was a beautiful day in Denver today. Hard to believe it was actually 70 degrees in January. We had the day off so spent it with friends. Nothing like playing, talking and enjoying the warm sun.

Fun with Nic and Sydney

Tracie and Gary are in Las Vegas celebrating their anniversary so Mom is watching Nic and Sydney. We invited them over to play and have dinner with us on Sunday. The kids always have a great time together. The weather has been beautiful this weekend. We played here, then took them to the park and then came back for dinner.

Later that evening I took Nic and Keara to see the movie "Hotel for Dogs". It was very cute - especially if you love dogs.

Daddy and Kailei stayed here. Zeb attempted to make popcorn with Kailei's new Hello Kitty air popcorn maker. He didn't have any instructions and since it has been about 30 years since he used one of these devices he simply added popcorn and forgot to add the oil. Apparently he put too much popcorn in it so it was overflowing and then he also had quite a bit of burnt popcorn. He salvaged some so not all was lost. Cooking is not Zeb's forte but luckily Kailei was none the wiser.

Asian Festival

With a three day weekend ahead of us, we decided to spend the first day at the Parker Asian Festival. It was held in the Parker Fieldhouse and they basically had lots of entertainment, a few crafts for the kids and some vendors. Actually it was better than I thought. I really enjoyed the entertainment and I think the kids did as well. We met Britt and crew there as well as her Mom which made it even more enjoyable.

Chinese New Year is upon us soon and will be the next round of activities.

Ouch!

So I was doing the kids hair this morning and we were talking about how their hair is growing longer. Kailei said, "Yours is growing too Mommy.......everywhere."

Kailei's New Puppy

Kailei got this puppy for Christmas this year and
she has been sleeping with it every since. It takes up half her bed and often she can be found sleeping on the floor on top of it. Too cute!

Back to Our Regular Schedule

Well, we are back at school after our winter break. It was good while it lasted. Is it wrong to admit I'm counting down to spring break now?

Had a mellow weekend which was nice. Keara and Kailei enjoyed the company of their friend Sam so that allowed me a little time to squeeze in some reading. I just finished a few books recently: SAIL, ONE LAST SCREAM and THE SHACK. Really enjoyed them all. I rarely get time to read so the fact that I finished these are a miracle. I enjoy reading a lot so one of my New Year's resolution is to try and read a little bit more. We'll see how I do.

The kids spent the night at their cousin's this weekend. A nice treat for their Mom and Dad who got to sleep in a little. The girls had a good time but apparently Aunt Tracie needed a nap after the girls left.

Zeb and I escaped to the theatre this weekend. We saw the The Color Purple. It was great and is highly recommended if it comes to your area.
All in all we are adjusting to our routine again.

Happy New Year!

It is always fun to ring in the new year with friends so that is what we did. How can 2009 not be great when you are surrounded by these beautiful faces?
