Chinese Heritage Camp

This year marked our second time attending Chinese Heritage Camp.  Once again we had a fabulous time.  Keara joined in the festivities this year and was one of the few Anglo's there, but she is wanting to return next year so obviously it went well.  Kailei had a fantastic time.  Both girls loved the counselors and honestly I did too.  They are the best.  It is so great for both the girls to be around such great role models.

I love that so many people from my MWCC group also go.  It means a lot to be able to share the experience with them.  We will continue to go for years to come and I think Zeb is going to join us next year if his schedule allows.  It is just too important.

So Proud

Got to have lunch with one of my former students, Andrea Lauder.  I had her when she was in 7th grade.  Still so proud of her.  She is making another job change to Denver Public Schools this year and will be on the opening staff of a new school.  Hopefully she will be there for a while.  Love this young lady.

Khiem's Birthday

Celebrated my nephew's 5th birthday on Saturday.  He is growing up to be such a big boy, and is ALL boy.  Loves sports, balls etc..  Lieu once again cooked up a feast of Vietnamese food so needless to say we ate a lot.  Grandpa and Grandma came up so that made it extra special to see them.  Everyone had a good time.  The girls even played baseball and Kailei was a crackup when she would run endlessly to make sure Khiem got out before he reached home base.  Gotta love it.

Happy Father's Day!

We are honored and blessed to have such a great father and husband in our lives. While he certainly deserves more than one day, we hope that today he knows how very much he is loved.

Our New Addition

While we miss Maya terribly, we just couldn't stand not having two dogs around the house.  I managed to wait until school was over but the very next day, we were mission bound.  A friend of mine told me about Lifeline Puppy Rescue and sure enough we saw a potential dog there so Saturday morning the girls and I headed up to Brighton.  I talked to the girls about the potential for us not coming home with a puppy but I think I was kidding myself.  Who could resist?  The drive was horrendous due to construction and flooding, it was raining like crazy, and I was running on nothing but fumes in the middle of nowhere with no gas station in sight but there we were.

Naturally the puppy was a hit.  We named her Lea and she is a sweetie.  Kodo is still "warming" up to her but we think he will come around soon.

We are back to potty training but at least she sleeps through the night without a peep.  Keara adores her and is taking good care of her.  Kailei is allergic to her puppy kisses but we don't think that is any deal breaker.

My goal is to have Lea be able to go on walks with me.  Kodo just challenges other dogs too much so we can't take him.  We'll see what happens.

You can guess what we will be doing this summer.  Life is good.  :)

Thomas' Baptism

Yesterday was Thomas' baptism.  It is such a special day for us Catholics.  We are even more blessed to be Thomas' godparents. We went to mass ahead of time which was longer than expected but the girls managed to hold it together.  Britt and Scott treated us to lunch after the ceremony, together with her sister's family.  While Thomas wasn't a huge fan of the water, he hung in there through it all.

Keara-ism

Tonight I asked Keara what she would like to do on summer vacation.

Her reply:  "Ummm, I'd like to get a puppy, and then I'd like to get a puppy and also I would like to get a puppy and maybe after that I'd like to get a puppy."

Last Day of School for Keara

Keara's class had a big picnic on the last day of school.  Some of the room mom's arranged for games and food and fun.  I managed to leave work and join the fun.  It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed watching Keara play with her friends.  I think she was happy I was able to make it for a little while.  Score points for mom. :)

"Sailing Off to First Grade"

My little kindergartner is now a first grader.  Gosh, it went fast.  Seems like I was just walking her to class on her first day of school.  She has learned a lot this year and I think will continue to do well in school.  Today her class made boats and sailed off into the sunset.  They talked about the boat and then took it outside to float in the pool.  We had goodies and she said goodbye to her teacher and classmates for the summer.  It was great to be a part of her celebration.  We are so proud of both our girls!

From last day of school 6-10

Memorial Day Fun

While I had a boatload of work to accomplish, I threw caution to the wind and decided to just play.  We took a family bike ride down the path and ate lunch together which I really enjoyed and I think everyone else did too.  Then we headed out to Kiowa for a BBQ with Tracie and family.  The cousins always have a good time together and today was no exception.  Grammy and Poppy were there, the food was great, and  we spent quite a bit of time reminiscing about the horses which was fun.  Overall, not a bad way to spend a memorial day.
