Kailei's "Style"

Field Day

I wasn't able to get away for field day but Zeb managed to get over there to see the girls do their thing. It is so much different then when I was a kid.  More fun then competition which I like. Kailei enjoys it more than Keara but I think they both had a good time.

Nicholas

Dad has a nephew that he has been close with over the years and while we have heard lots about him, a lot of us have never met him. That changed today as Nicholas and his new wife came for a visit in Colorado.

We all got together on Memorial Day and Mom made a great meal for us to share. Nick and his wife Sieka are very nice, nick also has a great voice and we were treated to some guitar playing and singing that we all really enjoyed. Hopefully this visit is the start of a beautiful relationship for all of us.

Pools Open!

The pool opened this weekend so of course we had to go.  It was so nice.  Went later in the afternoon and invited all that could come from my Mom's group.  We had a nice time and it was a perfect way to kick off summer.

Syd's First Communion

Sydney made her first communion today. She looked cute as a button and the archer family was there representin'. The church had a nice breakfast afterward and then we headed over to Tracies.

More eating, drinking and family time. Sounds nice, doesn't it?

My Birthday

I had a great birthday. Nothing fancy but nice. I had the day off from school because we had graduation. My friend Michael and I have traditionally gone to graduation together and usually have breakfast or lunch. We had the noon graduation so we met for breakfast where I was surprised with a birthday crepe.

Friday night we were invited over to Sheryl's house for some Friday fun and we just kicked back on the patio and enjoyed good friends and good conversation.

The girls and Zeb all made me a card and Zeb got some Bliss cupcakes (my new addiction).

Just a low key, relaxing day overall which was just perfect.

Kailei-ism's

"I always wear this necklace. Except when I shower and when I lose it."

*********

Kailei called me 3 times this morning. After her last call she said, "I won't call you back. I almost promise."

*********

Kailei to Zeb: "When I get a husband, he's gonna be way nicer than you."

*********

Kailei: "It hit me in my left eye. And that's my keen eye."

*********

Kailei: "Dad, you're my superman."

 *********

At the zoo..bears are mating. "Hey Mom, can we stay 'til the baby comes out?"

*********

Zeb: Why are you taking off your tights?
Kailei: I'm hot. I can't stand hotness. Well, maybe a little, for cute boys.

Kailei's Dance and Language Video

Goodbye for the Summer JCCC

We wrapped up another year of Chinese today.  We get our Saturday mornings back and we all can't wait to sleep in.  That said, I loved watching Kailei dance today.  I love hearing her speak in Chinese and seeing how she can read and understand it. I just love that she is learning and experiencing part of her culture.  It is so impressive.

Keara's Play

Keara's class has been working on a play for quite a while and tonight we finally got to see the production.  It was so much fun.  Keara worked on the scenery and was on stage for a brief ballroom scene.  She also videotaped many of the practices and created a bloopers video.  It was fun to see Keara in a dress for once.  :)  We had a great time.  I managed to get a picture of her and her teacher, Mrs. McIntosh.  Keara really likes her and so do I.

Mother's Day

I was treated like royalty today and loved every minute of it.  The girls made me my traditional breakfast in bed.  Apparently Zeb tried to talk them into taking me out to breakfast but they would not hear of it.  They have a tradition and they weren't going to budge.  I enjoyed eggs, bacon, fruit, pancakes, tarts and even some chocolate kisses.  It was a great breakfast.

Keara made me a great card and gave me some pottery she made. Kailei made me origami faces of all our animals which I loved.  I also received a gift certificate to the spa which I am looking forward to.

I spent the day reading out on the patio and then we had Mom, Dad and Mark over for dinner.  Zeb grilled some steaks and we enjoyed spending time with family.

Couldn't have asked for a better day.  Thanks everyone!

Zoo Time

So Keara spent the night with a friend last night and today I decided I wanted to go to the zoo for an early mother's day outing.  I texted and asked her if she wanted to go.  Her response..."Nah, I think I will hang with my bff's."  Wow - my baby just turned a corner and I was not prepared.  I tried not to beg her to come with us but I did throw out that we would be going out to dinner.  It didn't work.  Friends have just risen up on the pedastal and think I'll be looking up for a while.  Sigh...

So, with Kailei and her friend Frances in tow we headed to the zoo.  The girls had a great time.  The weather was nice it was just plain fun to be out and about. Apparently we have a tradition of getting dippin' dots at the zoo now so the girls are enjoying their treat.

Early Birthday Celebration

May is a great month for birthdays and Lynn and I always celebrate ours together.  While we can't always do a trip to Hawaii, we do manage to have dinner.  Headed to the Fresh Fish Company this year and enjoyed a great meal and even better conversation.  Lynn and I are looking forward to our 50th birthday when we plan to celebrate in London. :)

Mandy

Every once in a while a student comes along and makes you find yourself making a place in your heart for them.  Mandy was/is one of those students.  She worked for me over the years at CT and we have remained in touch.  Today she graduates from college and I was honored to be invited.  The world is a better place with people like Mandy.

Nic's Confirmation

Tonight was Nic's confirmation.  I can't say enough how proud I am of my nephew.  He is quite the young man and I am blessed to be his godmother.

Phase 1 - Implant

Well, today was the big day.  With a little valium and a lot of courage I went to the dentist and he proceded to pull my crown and put a big screw in my mouth.  Apparently I am lucky because the stars alighned and they could do two procedures today instead of one.  That means I only have to have this hole in my mouth for 3 months instead of 6.  Lucky me!
