The Broadmoor

So staying at The Brodmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs has always been on my bucket list. When I found out they had a Colorado special going on in January which made things much more affordable I jumped on it.

Of course, this does not come without a story.  We headed to the Springs and decided to go to the Cowboy Hall of Fame before heading to the Broadmoor.  The visit begain with a movie giving you an introduction. You sat on what I call "big stairs". As we were leaving, there were exits both up and down the stairs.  Zeb started going up and I started going down.  I missed the step and nose planted.  Zeb looked away and next thing you know, I was on the floor.  Luckily, I was not hurt and we both had a good laugh.  The Hall of Fame is just that, names and more names of people celebrated for their contribution to the rodeo scene.  Quite interesting.

Anyway, I've had The Broadmoor on the calendar since November and was looking forward to it.  Got emails giving us information about our stay which I brushed off thinking I knew everything.  Got down there and went through the gatekeeper to check in. Our names were not on the list.  I wasn't panicked because I just thought they missed us.  Got inside the hotel and checked my phone thinking it was indeed a little weird they didn't have us listed.  Turns out the reservation was for January 1st.  I couldn't believe I screwed up this badly.  Never have I been literally weeks off with an appointment.  I was sooo bummed and felt terrible.  I started looking for another place to stay in Springs thinking we could at least have dinner here and then go stay somewhere else and salvage the night.  Zeb talked me into going to talk to someone at the desk.  I made my way up there and asked the lady if she was ready to hear my sob story.  I told her I was old and forgetful and that while I had a reservation, it was actually weeks ago. It is a big hotel so I started to think we had a chance at getting a room, but I didn't know how much it would cost me.  I had already paid for the room back in January.  She graciously talked with her manager and they simply moved our reservation and didn't charge me a cent more.  We were so lucky.

We had a great steak dinner and enjoyed walking around the place.  It is indeed beautiful and worthy of staying.  The view is exceptional.  We enjoyed our evening so much.

Sunday mornings they have an amazing brunch that we wanted to go to, but it actually costs more then our dinner had.  I couldn't quite get the courage to spend that money so I decided to add the brunch to my bucket list for another day.

All it all, things worked out and it was nice to have time away with Zeb.
