Keara's Amazing Day

So we headed down to the Colorado state fair this morning for Keara to participate in the dog show. She didn't seem particularly excited but alas that is what living with a teenager is. Of course, nothing goes without hiccups so late last night we discovered that Lea's collar was missing. We searched high and low around the house but never did find it.

Anyway this was similar to other dog shows. Keara took a written test this morning and then just a little after lunch did her showmanship class. I thought she looked really good but I'm never sure about this whole judging thing. I think she was happy with her performance but at some point they decided to do a run off and her name wasn't called. We were both surprised. I think we also assumed that the runoffs were for people that were in the top of the class. Needless to say we were a bit disappointed that her name wasn't called. Thinking that was the end, I had to boogie on out of there to go to a wedding reception. Keara did not feel like staying down there either so Zeb brought the girls back home. Later in the evening we had an amazing text message from her trainer, Mary, indicating that she actually won the class! We were so excited. I'm so bummed we weren't all there to be a part of the celebration. What an accomplishment! Especially after only one year of doing this. When I congratulated her she was very nonchalant and said, "Well, it isn't Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion."  Ugh, teenagers!  We are so proud of her and look forward to more good things to come
