Epic Adventure Day 5

Our port today was Palma
Myorca. We decided we needed a day of relaxation. The girls got mani/pedi's and spent some time in the arcade. Keara of course read a lot and Kailei took
a quick pass up the rock wall. Zeb and I enjoyed a nice dinner together and then I played the slot machines losing every last cent. We all watched a fun games show called Sing Sing. The crowd was in teams and when a tune was played the first to recognize it jumped up and started to sing and the rest of their side joined them. It was fun.

Took mom and dad to see Brenda Cochran in Concert and she was great. To top it off she was Scottish and had a great sense of humor. She was also an amazing singer.

Epic Adventure Day 4

Today we arrived in Cannes. We were going to go to the beach all day but decided to just head into
Town and play it by ear.

We didn't walk far before Kailei was hungry. I tried to sell the girls in crepes but no luck. I tried to find other restaurants that might work for all of us but the menu was in French and Kailei was getting hangry. So the girls had McDonald's and Zeb and I had Subway. We ate in the park which was nice. Not soon after sitting down did Poppy, Grammy and Nic walked up. They had been there for a while so we're heading back to the ship for lunch.

After lunch we walked down to the Cannes Film Festival Museum. Not too exciting except for seeing a few handprints of famous movie stars. Typical teen Keara said, "If you wanted to see movie star handprints we should have gone to Hollywood."

Mom and dad mentioned a church up on the hill that had an amazing view so I wanted to go see that. They
said it was quite a hike and I was already sweating so we decided to take a movie tour that would take us by there. The movie tour talked a lot about which stars stay in why hotel and it became
pretty obvious you needed to be rich to live around here.  That said I loved Cannes. It was so quaint and really beautiful. We did make a stop at the church on the hill and the view was amazing. Totally worth the price of the tour.

After that we headed to the beach (well, Zeb and the girls did). I sat in the shade.

Soon our time in Cannes came to a close and we headed back to the ship.

Zeb, Kailei and I had a nice dinner. Kailei especially liked the desert she chose and had two of them because well... she could.

I played the slot machines for a while only to lose while
Zeb drug Keara out of the cabin. They watched Sing It If You Know It and I joined them after quickly going broke. We attempted to do some other activities but they were sold out or had too long of wait

We decided to call it an evening and made plans for Saturday. Our port is Palma.. and because the time is short and the shuttle expensive we decided to stay on the ship and relax.
The girls hope to get their nails done but I'm unsure if the ship does that. We did make some entertainment reservations so that is something to look forward to.

All in all a great day. I'd go back to Cannes in a heartbeat.

Epic Adventure Day 3

Docked in Livorno this morning and grabbed a bus to Florence.

We had tickets for the Uffizi museum. Kinda ended up getting lost and then taking a taxi.

Had a couple of hours to breeze through and see the amazing works of art. Walked by the Dormo in the way to the bus. Short but sweet trip.

We got back just in time for mom and I to see the show Pricilla, Queen of the Desert. It was a great way to end the day.

Epic Adventure Day 2

Took it easy this morning and then headed over to our cruise ship. The girls think are cabin is cool. Kailei will sleep on a bunk bed so she is looking forward to that.

The girls didn't sleep that well so they are took a nap. Zeb and I slept great so we explored the ship. So much to do, so little time.

I spent some time on deck reading while Zeb explored even more if the ship. We met up with Grammy at the emergency drill orientation.

Got comfortable with our quarters. Unpacked and hit the hay.

Epic Adventure Day 1

After a weekend of scrambling to get ready we left Denver around 11am yesterday morning. The dogs were left in trusted hands and our vacation was finally here.

Mark took us to the airport which was nice so we didn't have to pay for parking for three weeks. Kailei started off with a stomach ache. My guess it was nerves but who knows.  The plane rides were fine.

Unfortunately most of us could not sleep so we arrived exhausted. We were grateful to have a hotel shuttle pick us up so we just had to look for our name.

The driver took us to Hotel Traino in Civieavecchia. We immediately napped.

When I finally got everyone to wake up we ventured out. Made our way on various streets down to the ports.

Grabbed a little lunch (McDonald's) and then visited a fort that Michelangelo built. We also walked out
onto a pier. It was lovely although hot. I didn't last long before I needed to be in the shade.

After relaxing so peacefully we made our way to a restaurant. Enjoyed pizza margarita on the patio.

Now trying to stay awake  but the sand man is winning. Good night!

The Graduate

So Nicholas graduated today.  We are so very proud of him.  He is such a great young man and has so much to offer the world.

His graduation was held in a church right by my house so we had his graduation party at our house.  Just family, food, and fond memories of Nic as he as grown up.

Nic will attend the School of Mines in the fall which is not an easy school to get in to.  We are so very happy for him.

My Birthday

So this is the big 50 for me.  I can hardly believe it.  Had lots of plans to do something big but since we will be traveling for Mark's wedding, we had to let any plans go.  That said, Zeb decided to send me a singing telegram to work.  Oh my gosh, it was kind of a disaster.  The guy couldn't really sing and was dressed as a angel of death with a cowboy had on.  It was the weirdest thing I've ever had happen to me.  Thank goodness there were no kids there. Not sure whether to laugh or cry.  It was weird but so very thoughtful of my husband.
