Botanic Gardens

I'm taking advantage of my new membership as much as I can. Took Mom and Kailei down to the Botanic Gardens. I just love this place. It's so peaceful. Wish it was closer but I'll do what I can to get here.

Botanic Gardens

After going to the Botanic Gardens for my anniversary I decided that we needed a membership. It's just so lovely there. So today I decided to take Kailei and Mom down to enjoy it with me. It was the perfect day because the weather wasn't too hot. I think mom really enjoyed it and even though Kailei wasn't initially thrilled with the idea she was glad that she went after. We also got some ice cream at Bonny Brae which is always a treat. After we dropped Mom off, Kailei and I continued our day and went to the library and then out to dinner. It was a great day. Wish Keara could've been with us. She is still hurting from getting her wisdom teeth out.

Chinese Heritage Camp

Time for Chinese Heritage Camp. Kailei is beyond excited as usual. The middle school kids are scheduled to go to X-Arena and play some games, do some hip-hop dancing, make dumplings and have loads of fun. Love that this is part of our summer tradition.  Love also sharing it with the Trautman's and Peterson's. 

Happy Anniversary!

Today was our 23rd anniversary. Can you believe it? Time sure flies. Zeb and I had a lovely dinner and then went down to the Botanic Gardens. It was simply a great evening and I could not think of a better person to spend it with.

Where's Dory?

Been waiting forever for this movie to come out. After Kailei's golf lesson I took her and her friends out to see the movie and out to lunch. So, so good. 

Golf

So Kailei's friend does a golf camp every summer and we decided to sign Kailei up as well. It was only four days so nothing too strenuous. As usual she had a good time and she's really looking forward to go hitting golf balls with your dad.

Puppy Love

Headed out to Tracie's today to celebrate her birthday and Father's Day and get me some puppy love. The puppies did not cooperate with my picture taking but they're so darn cute. Wish I had room in my house for another.  I think Zeb would disown me. 

Keara is Driving!

This summer we have kicked Keara's driving lessons into gear. Zeb is her coach as she doesn't want me. Not sure whether that's a good or a bad thing but Zeb says she's doing a great job. She drove us all out Kiowa and even through her first thunderstorm. She's doing great!  So, so weird to see her in the front seat. 

Student Visit

I love when former students come back to visit. This girl is one amazing woman and I got the pleasure of being with her via National Honor Society.  She is smart, talented, kind and athletic.  So proud to know her.

An Adventure

 Decided to go on an adventure today. I called mom up and asked if she wanted to go with Kailei and I but didn't give her any specifics. We headed up to Boulder and went to the Celestial Seasonings building and took a tea tour. OK, probably not the most exciting thing. We had to wear blue hair net hats while we were in there. It was good for a laugh for sure. We then went over to the Blue Mountain Museum where they had some amazing statues. Lastly, I had made reservations at the Boulder Tea House which probably wasn't the best idea since it was 90°. Best laid plans. I'm not sure we'll forget this adventure.

Pikes Peak

What an adventure today! We were going to take the cog train up to Pikes Peak but then I decided we could just drive up as easily, get there sooner and letting us have some more time in the afternoon. Little did I know that was not going to happen. Got halfway up the mountain and we basically ran out of gas. Bought a couple gallons from the Ranger which was enough to get us back down the mountain and to a gas station. Had a little lunch and then we were not going to let the mountain defeat us and so we headed back up the mountain. It was worth it. Beautiful views. A little chilly but that is to be expected. At least we have a story. 

Fun!

In Manitou Springs there is the most amazing Penny arcade. We could not pass it by and not take advantage of it.  And of course Kailei was in heaven. More games than she could ever dream of and tons of the old supermarket rides. So much fun!  While she was playing I snuck away and got the best funnel cake ever!

Seven Falls

Today we decided to go on a little overnight  adventure down in Colorado Springs. Our adventure began at Seven Falls which was something the girls and I have seen but Zeb had not. It was different for us however because there had been a flood between the time we saw it and this year and they have redone so much. It was really beautiful and was really hot. We did climb all the stairs up to the top of the falls and hiked around for a little bit. We had our lunch up in the top of the mountain until it got a little cloudy. 

After Seven Falls, we headed to Cave of the Winds. We were going to do the normal tour but then Keara talked Zeb and Kailei into doing the lantern tour. That was not anything that interested me because there were some very small spaces and I just get too claustrophobic. I just sat in the car while they did the tour. Gave me time to read my book so I was happy and they were happy.  Unfortunately there are no pictures because they weren't allowed. Had dinner and headed off to our hotel room. Didn't take everyone very long before they were in the pool and the hot tub. Great day!

Summer Archery

Kailei decided to take some archery lessons this summer. She always seems to surprise me. Love the girls adventuresome nature.
